It's been a long three years, and I know I kind of disappeared off the face of the earth. I feel like I owe you an explanation.
In 2023, the trajectory of my business shifted, and I was embarrassed, disappointed, and honestly became extremely depressed. I kept pushing through because my plan at the time was to move to Guyana while keeping the business running so that I could minimize expenses while rebuilding.
Unfortunately, not even 24 hours after I sold my car and just 5 days before we were set to travel, I received some information that forced me to change those plans. I'm not ready to dive into that just yet, but I am writing my memoir and everything will be include in there when the time comes.
As a single mom, with the economy already being what it is, that change made my situation even harder and worsened my depression. I also had a breast cancer scare in November 2023, so we moved to California for four months so that I could receive medical care. While there, my mother passed away which deepened my depression and left me feeling very alone in the world. MY world became extremely dark.
But I still had to push through for my Sonshine. I've managed to keep a smile on his face through all of this and that's my greatest accomplishment. Children deserve to live stress free lives where our burdens don't become theirs.
Over the last 2.5 years, I've done whatever I needed to do to stay afloat. At the same time, I keep feeling pulled back to my business, especially when I would get random DMs and texts from you asking about products you were running out of and wanted restocked. And now I'm slowly getting back to what I love.
I know the economy is tough right now and things won't pick up overnight. I also know that I have to rebuild the trust we once had. I plan to spend the rest of 2026 doing just that while figuring out the best way to move forward in 2027.
I really believe that this time, things will be different.
I appreciate everyone that has reached out over the last three years and offered encouragement. Some of you have prayed with and for me and others, held space for me when you were unsure of what I needed.
Thank you for sticking by me.
Thank you for being the world's best customers!
I've been saying this since 2017 and I still mean it. Even though I had to step away to focus on my mental health and stability, I have always felt like you were more family than just customers.
I believe that while I started this business to treat my son's baby acne, it was more so that Tristan and I could build a community of people who love, care, and support us, even when I don't know how to ask.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
